DR STEPHEN CHAN M.B.B.S. (Adelaide), F.R.A.C.S.
If you are considering surgery, the choice of the correct surgeon to entrust your hopes and yourself is of paramount importance. You will want to know that he has the qualifications, experience and understanding to help fulfill your expectations. Every patient is unique and your surgeon needs to have a wide range of techniques to choose from to individualise your surgery.
Cosmetic surgery developed from the gentle art of reconstructive surgery and that is why a Plastic Surgeon is well equipped to sculpture your body to enhance your natural beauty.
Dr Stephen Chan graduated as a doctor from the University of Adelaide and trained for another 7 years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery before becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. His training encompassed reconstruction of the face and body after accidents and cancer, microsurgery, correction of birth deformities such as cleft lips, as well as cosmetic surgery. He teaches cosmetic surgery to young doctors aspiring to become Plastic Surgeons and lectures to nurses in the hospitals to ensure that his patients receive the very best of care. He presents his techniques to other surgeons at conferences and recently won the prize for the best paper in his section.
Dr Stephen Chan travels frequently to update his skills by attending conferences, courses and symposiums in Australia and overseas where new techniques and innovations are discussed and taught.
Dr Stephen Chan is a member of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery [ISAPS], the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons [ASPS], the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery [ASAPS] and he was a Past President of the Western Australian Society of Plastic Surgery [WASPS]. He has previously been Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital.
He is very proud to be a Member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of which there is only a handful in Australia. He is the only member from Western Australia.
Dr Stephen Chan has performed voluntary work in Fiji with Interplast, which is an organization formed by the Rotary Club with ASPS to help treat patients in needy countries and help train their surgeons.
Because the demand for his services in cosmetic surgery is so great, he had to reluctantly stop performing reconstructive surgery to concentrate his efforts in cosmetic surgery. He is the only surgeon in Perth who performs only cosmetic surgery in his practice and no other type of surgery. Because he is specialised totally in cosmetic surgery he can apply all his effort, thinking and planning to achieving excellence and to obtain the most appropriate and pleasing results for each and every patient.
Dr Stephen Chan's philosophy is that every patient is putting his or her faith in Dr Chan and his staff and this decision by the patient has been made after much thought and with considerable expense and that is why Dr Chan feels that every patient deserves the very best attention from him and his staff at all times.
For relaxation Dr Stephen Chan restores old classic cars and rides his Harley. |
